AI EDUCATION: What Is a Transformer (and Is It More Than Meets the Eye)?

In AI, a transformer is very different from robots that can change from humanoid to vehicle form at will-or the devices in our electrical grid that pass energy between circuits. A transformer is a type of neural network. Transformers are used to understand and organize complex data using a very large number of variables. While most software to date has been developed to perform calculations, transformers can understand interrelationships and contexts within data-especially sequential data-and create nuanced hierarchies with human-like ability. Top 5 VC Fundings of the Week in AI (11/22/24)

This was a very busy week around the world in AI venture funding, with two deals exceeding the $100 million threshold. This week's top reported deal, per FinSMEs, came from London-based Tessl, which raised $125 million in an undisclosed round to build out and go live with its AI-enabled software development platform. The next biggest announcement was in the superconductor space, where Enfabrica brought in a $115M round to build the chips that will power next-generation artificial intelligence. The top five also included companies in the data management and insuretech spaces. Smaller funding raises that did not quite make our top 5 this week included announcements from the consumer health, security and customer experience sectors... CONTINUE HERE
