Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!
The election is over, thankfully, and hopefully now we'll cool things off politically. As a political science nerd, we probably will have some further discussion of the implications of the election in AI & Finance, but this week we're comparatively light on the political news, and that's not such a bad thing. The world definitely does not stop turning during an U.S. election week, and artificial intelligence is no exception. Below you'll find an illumination of computer vision, a huge VC fundraising announcement in the marketing and customer experience space, and, of course, our weekly rundown AI & Finance news headlines... I asked several weeks ago where were the AI-oriented election disruptions that I-and many others-thought might be an issue in this election. Now that (most) of the votes have been counted, I'm going to ask again: Did AI disrupt this election at all? Recall that over the past year we've had not a little hemming and hawing over what kind of chaos deepfakes and other AI-generated images, video and audio might unleash upon the U.S. electorate. Some funny business during primary season only amplified those fears. Well now we're in the aftermath, and I think we can look back and say that there was no AI disruption... CONTINUE HERE
This week on AI Education we're going to discuss one of the most promising fields in artificial intelligence, one that helps bridge the digital and physical worlds: Computer vision. Computer vision is a form of artificial intelligence that allows computers to read and extract information from visual media like video and static images in a manner similar to human vision. This is accomplished via the use of compound artificial intelligence to extract information and make sense of images. Per IBM, "If AI enables computers to think, (then) computer vision enables them to see, observe and understand."... CONTINUE HERE
While one deal exceeded, by a large amount, the $100M threshold, this past week was a relatively sleepy one for venture funding in AI. This week's top reported deal, per FinSMEs, came in from the customer engagement space, where Insider raised $500 million to support its marketing platform and invest in research and development. The next biggest announcement was in the computer vision space, where Spot AI brought in a $31M round. The top five also included companies in the research and predictive modeling spaces. Smaller funding raises that did not quite make our top 5 this week included announcements from the enterprise AI, medtech and lendtech sectors... CONTINUE HERE

In our latest interview, Manish Pandey, Senior Vice-President and Head of Banking JIFFY.ai, outlines the three dimensions institutions must consider when moving their banking platform to the future. Financial institutions want to address their customers' needs quickly. Therefore, they must adopt modern technologies that will enable them to respond to their customers' needs and broaden their market... CONTINUE HERE
