AI&F | WELCOME FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!

Hello, Friends, there are still times when we can introduce this newsletter by saying not much happened this week, but that didn't happen much over the summer and it's not likely to happen now that we're officially in fall. Well, we get started with a bang in this newsletter by discussing some negative press-and research-regarding financial artificial intelligence in our AI & Finance column, which is also full of weighty announcements. Then, we explain one of the worst abbreviations we've ever heard in our lives, MLOps, and what it has to do with financial services (a lot) in AI Education. Top 5 VCs aren't the big $1 billion-plus announcements we had last week, but there was still a lot of activity to report. Oh, and we certainly weren't going to let this newsletter pass without a more in-depth discussion over the popularity of, and market reaction to, Meta's Muse, so we've added a not-so-brief industry brief on that topic as well. On top of all that, we have a few wealth management guest columns for your enjoyment... CHECK IT ALL OUT BELOW!

AI & FINANCE™ | NEWS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 9/25/26

What were we talking about again? Oh yeah! We STILL love a good paradox, so we decided to hunt for a financial artificial intelligence-related mindbender for us to discuss. We didn't have to look far this week, thanks to some research that was featured all over the financial press, not one but two studies showing that AI chatbots are offering bad financial advice. Welcome to another AI & Finance, where we have another gargantuan chunk of news for you thanks to some carried over stories in the wealthtech realm... but we'll get to that in a minute. First, we realize that we've only... CONTINUE HERE

AI EDUCATION | What Is MLOps?

The technology industry does not have a Sauron. Nor does it have a One Ring. There is no one AI tool to rule them all. Few enterprises will have all their problems and inefficiencies solved by adopting one AI platform or implementing AI into one part of their business or workflow. In fact, relatively few entities will see the desired return on their AI investment with such an approach. Transforming an enterprise via AI takes multiple tools and implementations, because AI isn't a point solution anymore, it's infrastructure and operating systems. Slowly but surely, everything is running on and implementing AI. Which means... CONTINUE HERE

Top 5 VC Deals of the Week in AI (9/23/26)

This week our overall AI venture capital activity maintained most of its already impressive momentum from recent weeks, with all five of our listed announcements coming in over $290 million and 12 announcements total coming in over $100 million. The biggest announcement, per FinSMEs, came from San Francisco-based AI healthcare benefits provider Angle Health, which raised $600 million to "invest in its AI-native technology platform and navigation across hyper-local, condition-specific care," according to its announcement. Our second-place announcement was from the AI security space, where New York-based Cyera raised a $400 million Series G extension to "support new capabilities across its AI Security... AI INTELLIGENCE | News For the Week of 9/24/26

The artificial intelligence industry confronted a widening divide between technological ambition and the growing demands for safety, accountability and financial discipline during the past week. Leading AI developers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Microsoft, faced renewed scrutiny over the risks associated with increasingly autonomous systems, even as investment in AI infrastructure continued to accelerate. New developments in cybersecurity, international AI governance, enterprise adoption and semiconductor technology demonstrated how quickly the industry is evolving. Meanwhile, the financial structures supporting massive AI infrastructure projects attracted fresh attention, raising questions about the long-term economics of the AI boom. For financial services professionals and technology executives, the... CONTINUE HERE

INDUSTRY BRIEF | Meta's Muse Is a Hit. Will It Take Over Finance?

The arrival of Meta's Muse artificial intelligence agent has introduced a new source of uncertainty into financial markets: What happens to banks, insurers, brokerages and wealth management firms when consumers can delegate increasingly sophisticated financial decisions to a personal AI assistant? The question goes beyond whether AI can automate customer service, summarize investment research or help financial advisors prepare for client meetings. It concerns the possibility that a general-purpose AI agent could become the primary interface through which consumers manage their financial lives, potentially changing how financial institutions acquire customers, distribute products, earn fees and maintain client relationships. For financial services executives, the... CONTINUE HERE

WEALTHTECH VIEWS | Wealth Firms Need More Than AI-Built Software That Works

Artificial intelligence is lowering the barrier to software development across wealth and asset management, and a growing number of firms are already experimenting with vibe coding-the practice of building software by describing what you want in plain language and letting AI generate the code-in their practices. Advisors, operations professionals and other non-engineers are increasingly using AI-assisted development tools to customize client onboarding, reporting, workflows and internal operations in ways traditional advisor technology historically could not support. That shift has real potential and should be viewed as a positive for our industry, where innovation is often slowed by legacy systems, long development... CONTINUE HERE

WEALTHTECH VIEWS | Let Need Drive AI Adoption

The Digital Wealth News AI Reality Check series examines where artificial intelligence delivers real value within the wealth management industry, and where hype may be getting ahead of reality. For Michael Mansur, CEO and Wealth Advisor at Ascentis Wealth Management, the most impactful AI applications of today help advisors do away with administrative work, improve productivity and create more time for clients. Mansur sees AI as an opportunity to increase the capacity of human advisors rather than replace them. While the tech can surface insights and help with increasingly sophisticated tasks, he argues that information alone can't replicate the judgment needed when clients... CONTINUE HERE

INDUSTRY BRIEF | WealthReach, Partners Launch Combined Offering for Advisors

WealthReach, an AI-powered organic growth platform built for registered investment advisors (RIAs) and wealth management firms, has partnered with Domain Money, a flat-fee financial planning and wealth management firm, and Savology to give advisory firms a way to convert more of the people who reach their website, including the ones already sitting in their database. Most firms do not have a lead problem. They have a timing problem. A prospect who does not meet an advisor's minimum this year may meet it several years down the line, but once the firm rejects a potential client, the relationship ends there. The same is true...
