AI&F | WELCOME FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!

Hello, Friends, here we are at the closing of another week where artificial intelligence made a huge splash, particularly in the financial services industry, which we're enthusiastically leaning into in this edition of AI & Finance. We open our AI & Finance headlines column with some optimistic thoughts about what generative AI might mean for fine arts amid a lot of pessimism and concern from artists themselves. Our education column discusses vibe coding, a form of do-it-yourself software development, and why it may not be the best of ideas for wealth managers, though it seems that wealth managers are doing it anyway. It was an active week for venture capital announcements, AI Intelligence gives us a quick look at some of the major technology headlines of the week, and then we asked OpenAI's ChatGPT to write a column and industry brief about Anthropic's new financial AI agents, and what it came up with was surprisingly good. GenAI makes a pretty decent reporter (even if we wish it was better at citing sources)... CHECK IT ALL OUT BELOW!

AI & FINANCE™ | NEWS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 5/8/26

Being a creator isn't what it used to be. While the upper echelons of the art world are usually reserved for people of unique vision and inspiration, like the Picassos, the Nuryevs, the Haydns, the Joyces and the Eliots, there are other echelons full of creators of great skill but less revolutionary vision. For every top-tier dance company or art school, there's probably half a dozen sub-elite tier schools or companies of very high quality. We think generative AI has the potential to wipe those less elite echelons of the professional creative world out. Welcome to another AI & Finance, where we, a... CONTINUE HERE

AI EDUCATION | What Is Vibe Coding?

When you reach a certain level of wealth, do-it-yourself definitely starts losing its charm. We're sure it happens at a certain age, too, where you just look at a job and think that it's best someone else spend their time doing it instead of yourself. There's a quiet kind of arrogance in thinking that our time is too valuable to learn how to perform and complete a task. In our experience, when we stopped trying to save money by avoiding hiring someone or something to do the work for us, we also ended up cutting off a valuable channel for education and experience... Top 5 VC Deals of the Week in AI (5/6/26)

This week our overall AI venture capital activity accelerated again from prior weeks, including multiple large raises from companies related to the financial services industry. The biggest announcement, per FinSMEs, came from Cambridge, Mass.-based Blitzy, an autonomous software development platform. The company raised a $200 million round at a $1.4 billion valuation, which it will use to "expand its research team and scale its partnership ecosystem through new and existing customers, including a focus on regulated industries like government, financial services and insurance," according to its announcement. Our second-place announcement was from New York-based Rogo, raising $160 million in a Series D, which... CONTINUE HERE

AI INTELLIGENCE | News For the Week of 5/7/26

Artificial intelligence development accelerated sharply this week, as governments, regulators, defense agencies, and major technology firms pushed deeper into an increasingly competitive and politically sensitive AI landscape. The week featured new Pentagon partnerships with leading AI companies, heightened cybersecurity concerns surrounding advanced frontier models from OpenAI and Anthropic, massive infrastructure spending commitments involving Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services and NVIDIA, and a growing global regulatory response spanning the United States and Europe. Financial markets, national security officials, and enterprise technology leaders all spent the week grappling with the implications of increasingly powerful generative AI systems. OpenAI previewed GPT-5.5-Cyber, a specialized AI model designed... CONTINUE HERE

INDUSTRY BRIEF | Anthropic's New Agents Target Financial Industry

The artificial intelligence arms race in financial services entered a new phase this week as Anthropic unveiled a suite of purpose-built AI agents designed specifically for the sector. The company-best known for its Claude family of models-announced the launch of a set of "finance agents," signaling a deliberate push beyond its stronghold in coding and enterprise productivity into one of the most lucrative and tightly regulated industries in the global economy. The announcement places Anthropic in more direct competition with rivals such as OpenAI and other enterprise AI providers that have increasingly targeted banks, asset managers, and financial data firms. But... CONTINUE HERE
