AI&F | WELCOME FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!

Hello, Friends, we've made it to another week of AI & Finance, and we have it all for you here, good and bad. We get off on the good foot with the love hand, of course, with an AI & Finance full of artificial intelligence announcements across the financial industry, topped off by a bit of (cautious) optimism. Then, of course, we give you the bad foot, or the hate hand (your choice), discussing what appears to be an unfortunate law of technology offered as a platform: enshittification. We round things out with strong evidence of accelerating AI venture capital activity, an AI Intelligence column featuring some very big technology names, and a news item out of the wealth management industry. We'd like to note the absence of Al & Ivy this week-for the time being, we're letting our AI podcast duo ride off into the sunset. As active as news around financial artificial intelligence is, we don't think we'll have any problems picking up the slack, as you can see for yourself... CHECK IT ALL OUT BELOW!

AI & FINANCE™ | NEWS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 4/3/26

Everything's going to be alright. Not by default, we actually have to help make it so, but in the end, whatever is making us feel depressed and pessimistic will pass, and the planet will just keep spinning on. Until, of course, eventually it won't, but that's not a realistic concern. Welcome to another AI & Finance, where we're going to be optimists this week because, well, what do we have to lose. There's negativity bubbling around everywhere: wars, market volatility, protests, heck, our basketball team even washed out of the tournament early. We even dedicated one of our other AI columns to the... CONTINUE HERE

AI EDUCATION | What Is Enshittification?

I've never been a big fan of platforms, whether they be for trains, games or businesses. Sooner or later, without proper upkeep and attention, platforms turn to crap. Sometimes literally. Just go to New York's lovely subway system and enjoy the odors. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what will bring us to this week's AI Education topic, enshittification, a lovely, profane little neologism that we're coincidentally talking about during the holiest week in the Western Christian calendar. Enshittification, sometimes called crapification or platform decay, is the process by which online platforms and two-way products and services tend to decline in quality over... CONTINUE HERE

Top 5 VC Deals of the Week in AI (4/1/26)

Venture capital activity continued to accelerate this week, with seven fundraising announcements coming in above the $100 million threshold. The biggest announcement, per FinSMEs, came from Austin, Texas-based Saronic Technologies, which raised $1.75 billion in a Series D to "support the continued advancement, expansion, and scaled production of its portfolio of autonomous surface vessels and AI-driven maritime capabilities," according to the announcement. Saronic designs and manufactures autonomous surface vessels. Our second-place announcement was from Seoul, South Korea-based AI infrastructure provider Rebellions, which raised $400 million in pre-IPO funding, which it will use to focus "on U.S. market expansion, scaled production of its platform... AI INTELLIGENCE | News For the Week of 4/2/26

This week marked new steps in the evolution of artificial intelligence as competition intensified across frontier model development, enterprise deployment, and regulatory oversight. Technology giants continued pouring capital into infrastructure and talent, while financial institutions deepened their integration of AI into core workflows. At the same time, governments and regulators moved to tighten guardrails, reflecting growing awareness of systemic risks. From breakthroughs in agentic AI to rising concerns about fraud and labor disruption, the past week highlighted how AI is reshaping both the global economy and the financial system at an accelerating pace. OpenAI expanded its enterprise footprint with new integrations across productivity... CONTINUE HERE
