AI&F | WELCOME FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!

Hello, friends, and welcome to another crazy week in AI, and another big AI & Finance newsletter. This week, we're running without our usual AI Intelligence column, so we will try to mention in passing some of the bigger news items here in our introduction, starting with Anthropic reportedly raising $30 billion at a $380 billion valuation. That's a lot of simoleons! Also, Elon Musk is merging SpaceX with xAI, with intentions to put Grok in space. Oh, yeah, and coincidental with the launch of new AI models that are really, really good coders (you'll read a bit about that in our AI & Finance headlines column), the technology industry started bleeding jobs this week, and many stalwart technology stocks lost a good deal of value amid what was, in general, a pretty volatile period. We've barely mentioned all our content, which includes, in addition to the usual columns, our Advisor Tech Talk piece from this week's Digital Wealth News, and a re-run of one of the first AI Education columns we wrote, about how AI is helping us to detect and fight cancer... CHECK IT ALL OUT BELOW!

AI & FINANCE™ | NEWS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 2/13/26

Since we started AI & Finance, sometimes it feels like we're talking up artificial intelligence too much, that we may be overly enthusiastic or optimistic about the impact of the technology within financial services and the larger world. To be honest with you, dear readers, we constantly doubt, question and double-check our thinking regarding AI. But maybe we're not overly enthusiastic and optimistic. Maybe we're actually being conservative and cautious. Welcome to another AI & Finance, which caps off a huge week for AI in general, and we have plenty of headlines to suggest it was no different for artificial intelligence specific to... AI EDUCATION | What Is AI Inference?

Jargon. Lingo. Slang. Idioms. It seems like a lot of AI Education ink is being spilled dispelling or defining the short-hand terms technologists are using to discuss and describe artificial intelligence, and this week is no different, as we'll be discussion AI inference. Now, inference is a word that we see all over AI articles, but it is rarely explicitly defined for readers, and rarely is enough context given for an unacquainted reader to divine its meaning. Yet it is pretty clear and simple to understand, for once, because AI inference is exactly what it sounds like. When we discuss artificial intelligence as ... CONTINUE HERE

Top 5 VC Deals of the Week in AI (2/13/26)

We saw a total of 13 fundraising announcements come in above the $100 million threshold, with one over the $1 billion mark, accelerating already strong venture capital activity in 2026. The biggest announcement, per FinSMEs, came from Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Cerebras Systems, which raised $1 billion in a Series H at a $23 billion valuation. Cerebras is an AI chipmaker and an AI infrastructure provider that many financial and technology writers believe will go public in the near future. It is often seen as a primary competitor to Nvidia. Our second announcement is from London- and New York-based voice AI provider ElevenLabs, which raised... CONTINUE HERE

ADVISOR TECH TALK | Week of 2/10/26

It's ironic that we write about technology, as we're kind of a luddite. Welcome to a big Advisor Tech Talk-not big in the sense of a lot of news in general to report for the week, but the news we are covering for you below comes in a little weightier than usual. The drumstick looks smaller, but there's more quality meat on the bone. Anyway, we wanted to point out that we are fascinated by technology, we love talking about it and studying it. But at the end of the day we prefer to be unplugged, almost as much as possible. We... CONTINUE HERE

AI EDUCATION | What Is CHIEF and Can AI Help End Cancer?

The term "cancer moonshot" was coined by President Joe Biden to encompass a set of public policy proposals aimed at a very personal target: treating and curing cancer, the disease that claimed the life of Beau Biden, one of his sons. I feel like a real, tangible battle against cancer is something that, done right, could gather bipartisan support, because practically everyone has someone they love who has died or battled the disease. If there is going to be a "moonshot" for cancer, then AI is going to be like the Saturn V rocket that propelled the Apollo astronauts on their own non-metaphorical... CONTINUE HERE
