Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!
Hello, friends, it was another whopper of a week in AI. As we sat down to write this introduction early on Friday morning, the world was still digesting recent comments from OpenAI's Sam Altman made in an interview with Axel Springer reporters where he predicted that artificial superintelligence, or AI that surpasses human cognitive capabilities, would arrive before the end of this decade. Are we ready? Well, there was plenty going on in the world of artificial intelligence in financial services, as you can read below, and we continue to make great strides in supercomputing, as you'lll see in our AI Education column about exascale computers. It was also a huge week for AI venture capital fundraising, and we'll get an update on the $500 billion effort to build AI-oriented data centers in the U.S. in our AI Intelligence column. On a lighter note, Al & Ivy wrap things up for us with an entertaining chat about the entertaining "banana ball" phenomenon... CHECK IT ALL OUT BELOW!

Welcome to another AI & Finance, we have a lot to cover today, so we're going to jump right in by talking even more about how much we have to cover. We even chose to broaden our horizons, as most of our work to that point was focused on wealth management. At that time, AI in wealth management was far too narrow a focus for an entire newsletter. Not anymore. Mind you, this wasn't back in the... CONTINUE HERE

Welcome to another edition of AI Education, where we're going to discuss exascale computing, the latest big benchmark achieved in supercomputing. Rather than give our usual drawn out introduction, we'll jump into a definition right away. Exascale computing is supercomputing that takes place at a level that exceeds 1 exaFLOP per second. Now, that's about as clear as mud to a layman, so we're going to need a couple of more definitions to get this piece going. Supercomputing is the development and operation of supercomputers. Supercomputer is a term most of us have heard hundreds if not thousands of times but have never... CONTINUE HERE
This week's venture capital funding announcements maintained recent momentum, with all five transactions in excess of the $100 million threshold. The top reported deal, per FinSMEs, came from Mountainview, Calif.-based Groq, which raised a massive $750 million round in part to "expand operations and its development efforts," according to its announcement. Groq is involved in AI inference, which involves applying trained models to actual real-world work. Our second-place announcement comes from the lawtech space, where Salt Lake City-based Filevine. brought in a $400 million equity raise. The top five also included de-extinction company Colossal Biosciences, the company using AI to help resurrect species... CONTINUE HERE

In this week's spotlight, we dig into the phenomenon of the Savannah Bananas-how an exhibition baseball team rewrote the rules of both sports and showmanship. Their rise from grassroots startup to cultural juggernaut shows what happens when performance, community, and viral storytelling collide. The podcast provides an extensive overview of the Savannah Bananas, an exhibition baseball team that transitioned from near bankruptcy to becoming a multimillion-dollar viral sensation by prioritizing fan entertainment.
