AI&F | WELCOME FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!

Hello, friends, I think we're all grateful for a holiday this time around, but I'm not really looking forward to the entire world smelling like pumpkin spice for three straight months. It was an exhausting week of news, good and bad, and though artificial intelligence wasn't grabbing the top of front-page news, while the world's attention was elsewhere the technology plowed forward. Here are two good examples: this week we had more evidence that artificial intelligence is indeed taking jobs and displacing workers from crucial, career-building roles, and we had a significant advancement in AI model design that may pave the way to both more powerful and more practical deployments of the technology moving forward. In this newsletter, we hit on the persistent worries about an AI bubble, what AI has to do with the planet Mars, and, in our AI Education column, we'll discuss the blossoming realm of physical artificial intelligence. Al & Ivy wrap things up with a chat about the origins and evolution of Labor Day... CHECK IT ALL OUT BELOW!

You know, the final frontier. The future of AI is in space, and the future of space exploration is in AI. Let me explain the latter point first-all those probes we've been sending to objects in our solar system and beyond are going to get smarter so that they... CONTINUE HERE

AI EDUCATION: What Is Physical AI?

Welcome to AI Education, where this week's discussion will focus on physical AI. Think of this as an outgrowth on our discussion of AI infrastructure, where now, instead of talking about the physical underpinnings that AI runs on, we'll instead talk about applying that AI back to the real physical world. We often encounter AI in a software environment-meaning, we interact with chatbots and AI assistants across the web-but AI connects to the physical world when it is asked to perform tasks like sifting through x-ray films to find anomalies, take accurate notes at a meeting or listen for astronomical phenomena... Top 5 VC Deals of the Week in AI (8/29/25)

Another week's top-heavy venture capital funding is led by three announcements exceeding the $200 million threshold. The top reported deal, per FinSMEs, came from Irvine, CA-based robotics developer FieldAI, which raised a total of $400 million across two rounds in part to "accelerate its global growth, support continued product development across locomotion and manipulation, and enable strategic hiring to scale its team as it plans to double headcount by the end of the year," according to its announcement. Our second-place announcement came from the cloud computing space, where San Francisco-based Lambda brought in its own $275 million round. The top five also included... CONTINUE HERE

How Digital Teammates Could Fix Wealth Management's $50 Billion Problem

Wealth management is drowning in paperwork. Ask any financial advisor and you'll hear the same story: more time chasing down forms than building portfolios or, heaven forbid, talking to clients. Industry estimates peg the inefficiency tab at $50 billion annually -- an ocean of rework and compliance bottlenecks. Back-office software company Docupace is wading in with a new promise: let AI do the drudge work. This week, Docupace published a strategic vision paper that sketches out what it calls the industry's first agentic AI platform for financial advisors.
