Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!
Hello, friends, it feels like we're riding on a huge wave of new technology, but we're still so far out to sea that it's difficult for anyone to understand just how big and how impactful the wave is going to be when it hits the shore. Despite all the hyperbole thrown around regarding AI, and we've thrown a bit around ourselves, it still seems like most writers, as well as businesses and political leaders, struggle to understand just how fast AI is moving, a concern we address in our AI & Finance headlines column this week. Our AI Education piece talks about Meta's LLaMA family of large language models, while AI venture capital funding receives a little heat check in our Top 5 list this time around. Also, be sure check out all the eye-popping headlines in our AI Intelligence rundown this week, including an AI love story complete with a marriage proposal... CHECK IT ALL OUT BELOW!

What do llamas have to do with artificial intelligence? We usually associate them with inside jokes in video games and on old Monty Python's Flying Circus reruns. As it turns out, there's a host of powerful, open-source AI models that have adopted llama as their name. Welcome to another edition of AI Education, where we'll be discussing Meta's LLaMA family of artificial intelligence models. First launched publicly in 2023, the LLaMA family of models, or the LLaMAs for short, are large language models (LLMs), with the name LLaMA as an abbreviation for Large Language Model Meta AI. They're similar to other open-source large... CONTINUE HERE
This week's venture capital funding is led by two deals exceeding the $100 million threshold. The top reported deal, per FinSMEs, came from New York-based AI development platform Clay, which raised a $100 million Series C in part to "accelerate its product development and the roll out of GTM (go-to-market) engineering as a career path," according to its announcement. The top five also included companies in the AI contact center, enterprise AI and biotechnology sectors. Smaller funding raises that did not quite make... CONTINUE HERE

In this week's podcast, Al & Ivy dig into the unfolding scandal at the Bureau of Labor Statistics-breaking down the agency's long pattern of data errors, political fallout, and why America's most trusted jobs numbers may no longer deserve that trust. The content was generated through NotebookLM from this source: "BLS Has Lengthy History of Inaccuracies, Incompetence" published on the official White House website. The provided text, originating from The White House, critically examines the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), specifically under the leadership of former Commissioner Erika McEntarfer.
