Welcome to our weekly edition of AI & Finance™!

What a tumultuous week, and not just in the world of finance and technology, where AI keeps rolling on at an accelerating pace. This week we explore the possibility of divergence between AI and the rest of the economy in our AI & Finance headlines column before covering some of the latest data on financial advisors' use of artificial intelligence. In AI Education, we talk about the hyperpersonalizezd, evolving nature of generative user interfaces, or generative UI. We also offer a huge top 5 venture capital deals in AI, where all of our top five, including an impressive big-name runner up, come in at over the $100 million mark. Also, in AI Regs & Risk, Greg Woolf checks in with a view on the different facets of self regulation in financial artificial intelligence... CHECK IT ALL OUT BELOW!

AI & FINANCE™ | NEWS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 3/14/25

Not to sound like a broken record, but financial AI is on a tear in 2025, even as the volume of questions about the future trajectory of economic growth has increased. While the economy may slow down, or shrink, this year for a number of reasons, there's plenty of reason to also believe that no slowdown is coming anytime soon for artificial intelligence. In fact, any kind of economic downturn may also become the disruption needed to transition our economy away from the analog and into a more automated, intelligent, digital future. A recession isn't likely to stop the acceleration of artificial intelligence... CONTINUE HERE

AI EDUCATION: What Is Generative UI?

So, by now, you're hopefully at least somewhat familiar with generative artificial intelligence, AI software that can create content seemingly out of thin air like Microsoft's Copilot and OpenAI's ChatGPT-4. While most users think of this content as media like images, video, audio and text, generative AI can also be used to produce code and brought to bear on software development. That leads us to user interface, the elements of software that users-meaning human beings like you and me-interact with as we work, play, socialize, create, or whatever else we might be doing with our technology... Top 5 VC Deals of the Week in AI (3/14/25)

This week our announcements are led by six deals exceeding the $100 million threshold, meaning Turing's impressive $110 million round was left off our top 5 list. The week's top reported deal, per FinSMEs, came from Santa Clara, Calif.-based Celestial AI, an AI comptuting company, which raised a $250 million Series C1 round in part to "to expand and qualify its volume manufacturing supply-chain to serve customer demand." The next biggest announcement came from the defense space, where Washington-based Shield AI brought in a $240 million round. The top five also included companies in the life sciences and human resources spaces... CONTINUE HERE

AI REGS & RISKS: Self-Regulating AI

The current urgency to surpass China in the ongoing AI arms race has shifted regulatory conversations to the back burner. In the push to lead in technological advancement, formal governance of AI has taken a back seat to rapid progress. In the absence of centralized governmental oversight, industry-led self-regulation has emerged as a pragmatic way to ensure AI's responsible growth. Last week, I had the opportunity to compete in an AI hackathon hosted by the Sundai Club-a group of over 200 AI PhDs and post-docs from Harvard, MIT, and other leading area universities who meet every weekend to experiment and "hack..." Friends, the week of March 8 to March 14, 2025, was marked by (once again) more significant advancements in the AI ecosystem, ranging from groundbreaking technological releases to policy reforms and industry debates. OpenAI unveiled a new AI model specializing in creative writing, sparking copyright concerns among authors and publishers. Meanwhile, OpenAI's policy team shifted its stance to align with the Trump administration, prioritizing AI growth over strict regulations to maintain U.S. competitiveness. China & France Drive AI Innovation & Regulation - Alibaba upgraded its AI assistant, Quark, to handle complex tasks like medical diagnostics and research, intensifying competition in China's AI market...
